ETIQUETTE OF DUA Theres a certain etiquette for making duas... 1. Praise & glorify Allah by invoking Him using His Majestic Names. For eg: Ya Rahman you are the most Merciful have mercy on me, Ya Saboor ur the Patient One grant me patience to deal with my problems. Ya Salaam Your the source of Peace make my heart at peace & content or make my relatives at peace with me. Ya Khaliq Your the Creator grant me a pious child. Ya Wahhab Your the Bestower grant Your blessings to my children. Ya Haadi You are the Guide, so guide me my family and offspring tpo the straight path. Ya Razzaq Your are the Provider ease our financial problems etc... 2. U MUST send 'Salawat' (salutation, blessings) on Prophet Muhammad (sallal lahu alaihi wasallam). Umar ibn al-Khattaab (radiAllahu anha) said: Dua is SUSPENDED between heaven and earth and none of it is taken up until you send blessings upon your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” [Classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi) The best SALAWAT that the Prophet himself told us to use is this (one we recite in prayer): Say:`Allahumma salli `ala Muhammadin, wa `ala aali Muhammadin, kama sallaita `ala aali Ibrahima, innaka Hamidum Majeed. Allahumma barik `ala Muhammadin, wa `ala aali Muhammadin, kama barakta `ala aali Ibrahima, innaka Hamidum Majeed [O Allah, exalt the mention of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as you exalted the family of Ibrahim. You are Praised and Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. You are Praised and Glorious.]”’ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] 3. AFTER praising Allah & sending salawat THEN make ur supplication to Allah & make dua with certainty that He WILL answer it and say Ameen.
