Two beggars knocked on the door asking for bread. One beggar was given a loaf and sent away. The other was kept waiting and waiting. At length, the second beggar became concerned. "Why am I being denied? What is so lacking in me that the other one was favoured over me?" he asked himself. Unknown to the beggar, a fresh loaf was being baked for him inside the house. _____________________________________ Some references frm Quran on patience "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." Allah suffices for us and He is the Best Disposer of affairs. [Al Imran, verse 173] "And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad ) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright." (2:186) Al-Hajj (22:11) : Tests, trials, difficulties, hardships, grief, sadness, pain it raises the level of the believer. It is an expiation for sins. It removes sins, these difficulties and it raises one's level higher with Allaah. So that this person can become patient, have this Ibadah of worship,so that this person can reach the position that Allah wanted him to reach. Al-Zumar:"Verily the patient will get their reward without it being estimated, without it being calculated. It can't be counted. One is waiting to reward, the one who is patient." Baqarah :"We will test you with something of fear, and hunger and loss of wealth, and souls and vegetation. And give glad tidings to those who have patience. Those who if in any difficulty or trial, or tribulation occurs to them or happens to them, they say: 'Verily We are from Allah and to Allah we return.' They are those who will receive Mercy from their Lord and it is those who are guided." ”And put your trust in Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs” (Qur’an 4:81) Allah loves those who do good (5:13), those who are just (5:43), those who are pious (9:4), those who are patient (3:146), those who put their trust in Him (3:159), those who frequently turn to Him in repentance and those who purify themselves (2:222).
