Every night I put my two boys into their cots, give them their bottles, say du'a for going to sleep for each of them, and they normally go to sleep pretty quickly on their own masha'Allah. My eldest (2yo) has a very limited vocabulary masha'Allah and apart from names of people he only knows about 3 or 4 words which include 'ball' 'jump' 'Allah' and 'lollies'. The other night I did the usual bedtime routine but was rushing it a bit because I had something 'really important' to do. It always seems non-important when you look back . The baby went straight to sleep but my older son kept standing up in his cot, throwing EVERYTHING on the floor, blanket, pillow, pants, nappy, dummy.... u name it he threw it. It was so out of character! I kept telling him come on baby you need to sleep, mummy loves you etc. He did this about three or four times until finally I snapped and he sat there whimpering as I asked him what he wanted in a loud voice......... He looked up at me with his big beautiful eyes and said 'BISMILLAH'. I had forgotten to say his bedtime du'a! Mashallah he was so used to it he didn't feel right sleeping until he heard it. I was so embarrassed I kissed him said the du'a and mashallah he was asleep in like 3 seconds. It's so amazing what children absorb subhanAllah
