When he passed his eleventh grade he was awarded for the best student in science. Sameer was so happy he always knew he was a genius in science. In fact he loved science. He wanted to be a scientist one day. How fascinating it is? Everything was logical and nothing was state...d without proof. But his friends laughed at him for being a Muslim. Even he didn’t like the idea of being a Muslim. He was clueless to prove the theory of oneness of God and everything else in Islam. It looked ridiculous to believe that someone with divine power created the universe and everything in it. He felt sad for his parents and everyone else who followed this faith for believing these kinds of fairy tales in this twenty first century. Everything is changed according to scientific innovation. When new technology invaded every corner of the world it’s mere joke that these people stick onto a book which was claimed to be revealed by god thousand four hundred years ago. He felt sorry for his uneducated parents. He one day thought to tell them what he felt about them and everything they believed. “Mom…what you do is a pointless thing” His mother looked at him. She just finished her prayer. Sameer pointed at the prayer mat. “This...God…he doesn’t exist. You people are wasting your time praying for that invisible spirit” Sameer said trying to convince his mother. His mother frowned. “How many times should I tell you that it’s not an invisible spirit…Allah! Allah…the only one God” She said firmly. “SAM…stop calling me with that name and stop believing ridiculous facts…we can’t prove there’s a God…everything was created naturally” He said. He hated his parents calling himself as Sameer, it explains he belongs to a Muslim community. “If you want any miracles to happen to believe in Allah, then forget about your dreams sameer…everything around us is a miracle” His mother said. Sameer laughed out louder. His mother’s brows creased together. “Come on mom! You are so silly…everything around us are created naturally…its science” He said wisely. His mother’s lips curved. “Is that so sameer…? Sorry Sam! How wonderful…you mean even this chair you are sitting?” She asked. His brows went up and he smiled feeling sorry for his mother for being illiterate. “Mom! See how anyone can simply make you in believing everything? The chair, the bed and every other furniture is made by a human and we call him a carpenter” He said so. “Oh my! Is that so son? Well..we call the one who created human brain as Allah!” She said trying not to offend her son by her words yet her words gave him a shock. Sameer didn’t want to show he was shocked and he didn’t want to agree with his mother too. “You know mom, human…us we didn’t come just like that…our early stage was an ape, we gradually changed into human” He said remembering Darvin’s theory. “Really…you mean monkey? Then why did I go through all the pains and troubles bearing you in my belly to give you birth…I simply should have bought a monkey…isn’t it Sameer?” When his mother said sameer chuckled. He felt a lump in his throat. “Mom you are getting me wrong…” “Wasn’t that you meant? I wonder why we cage our grandmas and grandpas in the Zoo.” She tried to hide her laugh. It was humiliating, sameer thought. It is pointless explaining his mother about this complex process…its science and she’s uneducated. He thought and walked out the room. “Allah created the earth, the universe…and everything around us” He heard his little sister memorizing her speech for Islamic day competition. “You are silly Saba…how can one person create everything like that? Doesn’t your science teacher teach you guys anything…everything was created naturally…bits of this and bits of that…everything formed together and created naturally…it took many years to be what we witness now, the earth, sun, moon, water…oceans, trees everything…” He said sarcastically and moved. His little sister Saba watched at him being puzzled. She shrugged her shoulders and went on memorizing her speech. When everyone gathered for dinner sameer’s mother carried platter, dishes and bowls to the table. She picked sameer’s plate and served his share and handed over to him. His eyes widened and mouth opened. he looked at others, his dad and sister. Everyone’s eyes were filled with curiosity. “Mom! What’s wrong with you? How can we eat flour, raw daal, salt and uncooked egg? Are you alright?” Sameer asked his mother being annoyed. Instead of being panicked for her silliness she smiled broadly. “Why should I waste my time and energy son…when all these things can naturally combine together, mold into a dough, become parata and daal be cooked by itself?” She asked. Sameer being ashamed stared at his plate. He stared for few seconds. Silence speared his heart. “You see, even to cook a simple parata we want someone to mold it…so how can the whole universe be created alone?” His mother asked him. He didn’t look at her. “To cook a simple meal we want the recipe…if we didn’t get the accurate recipe we spoil the meal…just imagine how powerful the one who must have created this universe and everything in it without any error and so beautifully? When you go to a restaurant you get delicious meals yet you never meet the cook…have you ever questioned about it? Then why do you question about the divine power of Allah almighty?” His mother asked him politely. Two big tear drops fell onto his plate. His mother walked to him and patted him. “Science is not Islam but Islam is science….what you prove right today in science will be wrong tomorrow but what is in Islam will remain to be the same…for it follows the word of Allah, the only one God” Sameer was surprised to see the wise words muttered by his uneducated mother. “Son, we are uneducated comparing to you but our hearts are daily filled with the knowledge straightly given by Allah, the accurate knowledge” His father said in a calmed voice. Sameer raised his head. His eyes turned red and filled with tears. “I’m sorry mom, Dad…Will Allah forgive me?” He asked in a low voice. Both his parents smiled.
