Where do the foods we eat come from? How did it reach us? For a minute let us think about a loaf of bread, we eat it so easily in the comfort of our own home. But how did it reach us? We think of the farmer putting long hours of hard work in fields getting... the soil ready to grow food. Then the farmer plants the seeds and waters it, then with the help of the wind, sun and rain they gradually and wonderfully grow into a plant, then into a tree. The tree then blossoms, and brings out grains of food which is cleaned and crushed and sent to the grinding mills. The flour is sold in the markets and you buy it for your family. After going through different stages the loaf of bread is now ready. Now think was is possible for you to make the seed grow which has helped to make the loaf in front of you. The farmer planted the seeds, but could he make the seed grow into a plant? It was only with the command of Allah Ta’ala that the seed grew. This power is not in our hands we cannot bring down the rain water from the sky or attract the sun. We can plant seeds in the ground but if Allah Ta’ala does not command it to grow, no matter how much we will try it will not grow. It is only Allah Ta’ala who is feeding us and all the animals in the world with different kind of foods. We should be very grateful to Allah Ta’ala for his mercy on us who has provided food for us.
